Packaging :
Well... When I first saw the packaging, I liked how it looked! All White, simple, neat!
Opened it, the DS came with:
-2x White Stylus -1x Nintendo DS lite (of course) -The manual -Some Advertising on some games -Warranty documents
DS first boot
Now, when I turned on the DS It asked me all sorts of questions xD My Birthdate, Nickname (Which is used for identifying yourself ingame), Favourite colour (which it used for the firmware theme).
I think it's good, maybe it'll say happy birthday next time It hits the 5th of november xD.
The firmware
The Firmware itself...doesn't have that many stuff to do, You have PictoChat™ that is used as a chat, but unless there are other people with a DS it's useless (In my case, I don't know anyone with a DS, nor do my friends EVEN KNOW what a DS is...)
It can run GBA games and of course NDS games (you can choose the one you want to boot in the firmware) and download play (Which is similar to PSP's Remote play, in which you download a demo of the game so that you can play with a friend)
It also has this cute alarm clock that, actually Woke me up! (something very difficult for a machine to do)
It also has this cute utility to calibrate the screen! Very noob friendly!
Peripherals
The DS lite comes with an incorporated Microphone, which in some games can be used (Ie : Phoenix Wright)
has a Stylus holder under it (The GP2X with the touchscreen doesn't have it!)
The two screens of course, the bottom one is touchable, and might I add very well done! It can stand a little pressure but not too much and can even detect this said pressure!
The above one well.. It's a bit touch sensitive... Not recommended putting pressure in it!
The buttons are a bit tiny, which may or may not improove gameplay (depends on one's fingers, for me it's perfect!) You have a D-PAD, A, B, X, Y, L, R buttons
And of course the charger! it has a custom plug...goes in the back (omg so perverted! XD) doesn't interfere much while playing and the ds being charged (unlike the PSP which bothered me a bit >_>)
Another thing...The internal speakers. Nintendo put them beside the upper screen, one in each site, thus giving stereo sound. Problem is...Those speakers have a low quallity sound output... >_> and aren't as loud as the PSP's...
The feel
Ds feels great, buttons are smooth, not that complicated to handle, it's not heavy (it's a lite version duuh xD)
Though it sometimes gets a bit irritating when some games that require Stylus/keys you have to take it out use it, put it back, go back to playing... But that's the only bad part!
The look
I got a White DS lite, unlike the ceramic White PSP, it has an external plastic cover, thus protecting the DS.
The Switches are slide-like, which I like! =D
No complains here!!
The games
I've seen the selection and I must say, The DS is more for Fun games, simple games, games that anyone can enjoy! For example : Cooking mama, even my mother wanted to play! it has games for all sorts of tastes! and...Phoenix wright...<3<3
Conclusion
Anyways, after all of this, I can say this, it's worth buying, but don't expect a multimedia server like the PSP, if you want Mp3/video/homebrew you will have to buy a NDS catridge like M3 or R4 for those. After that...Ît's heaven!
